Can’t connect 3g data on htc hd2 running Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich

Here’s a post completely out of left field, but I’ve been trying out Android 4 Beta 5 from the SD card on my HD2 still running Windows Mobile 6.5.

I have most things working, including synchronizing with Microsoft Outlook 2007 using the latest version of CompanionLink (via Wifi ‘cos the USB doesn’t always work). It can be a bit of a chore, but it does work, fortunately — I hate sync’ing with the Cloud.

At any rate, the wifi was working fine, but I couldn’t get the 3G to work for the life of me, until I ran across this post on XDA-developers.com.

He gives 2 solutions, I only needed to use the bottom one, of dialing into the testing screen, and find a place where it said CMDA only, tapped on it (though it wasn’t a button) and changed it to GSM AUTO… voila, worked like a charm!

Here’s the link:

And the excerpt:

today28/8/2010…and the final situation like that
–please go to build.prop file you will find it android/root/system
open it with notepad and change the dns1 and dns2 to your operator dns
then save it….this completely will solve the 3G problem forever..i test it my self..and i can see my new setting on the test menu ..enjoy with the internet and ineradicable speed after that …..

OK the solution for every one have this problem like me

1- Dial *#*#4636#*#* you will have a menu of testing
2- open Phone information you will see all network info…
3- press on (set preferred network type..
4- change to GSM AUTO …. and done….

now you can enjoy your hd2 with android all the day ..
i hope that will be useful for every one and thanks for XDA members
